Committee considering dozens of suggested names for new facility
The local committee charged with recommending the name of the new Career & Technical Education high school is wrapping up the work to select a name that will reflect the values of our community and instill pride in the students and staff who will call this state-of-the-art facility their home.  Â
Â
A community survey ran for a month from December 19 through January 20. It brought 82 responses with more than 20 names and nearly 80 suggestions for potential mascots/logos.  Â
Â
During their second and third meetings, members reviewed the survey responses and discussed the possibility of two names for the facility: one for the CTE Center and another for the full-time high school that will be located on the campus. Specifically, the group stated a desire for a name that represents the type of learning taking place within the building. Committee members also discussed the need (or not) for a mascot or logo and potential school colors.  Â
Â
The primary charge for this committee is to sort through the suggestions, discuss pros and cons, and eventually recommend a school name to the Board of Trustees. You can see responses to a few of the key survey questions at the end of this article. They may include a mascot, logo, and color recommendations.   The new CTE Center/high school was approved as part of Bond 2023. It will be the full-time high school for approximately 400 students and will become ECISD’s 7th high school option for students. In addition, an expected 2,000 students will travel to and from their home high school to the new center daily for career and technical education classes.  Â
